Notice is hereby given that a Regular Meeting of the Governing Body of the City of Ranger, Texas will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall, 400 West Main Street, Ranger, Texas.  The following subjects will be discussed, to wit:

 

Agenda Item 01:  Call to Order- Mayor Joe Pilgrim

Roll Call-City Secretary

Prayer

Pledge of Allegiance to United States Flag

Pledge of Allegiance to Texas Flag

 

Agenda Item 02:  Citizen’s Presentation-At this time, anyone on the list will be allowed to speak on any matter other than personnel matters or matters under litigation, for a length of time not to exceed THREE minutes.  No Council/Board discussion or action may take place on a matter until such matter has been placed on an agenda and posted in accordance with law.

 

Agenda Item 03:  Announcements from City Council-Comments may be made by council or staff, BUT NO ACTION TAKEN on the following topics without specific notice.  Those items include:  Expressions of Thanks, Congratulations or Condolence; Information on Holiday schedules; Recognition of public officials, employees or citizens other than employees or officials whose status may be affected by the council through action; Reminders of community events or announcements involving an imminent threat to the public health and safety of the people of the municipality.

 

Agenda Item 04:    Discuss/Consider approving  Saturday, October 24, 2015 as “Day of Champions –Dr. Bill Campion

 

Agenda Item 05:      Discuss/Consider retracting motion from July 27, 2015 meeting regarding Agenda Item to lease Vietnam Veteran’s Park  to Vietnam Veterans Committee on a 99 year with clause should this committee become inactive the lease is null and void- City Administrator

 

Agenda Item 06:  Discuss/Consider approving City Attorney to draft an Agreement with Vietnam Veterans Committee to operate, manage and maintain the park on behalf of the city and public for a term of 35 years, with clause should this committee become inactive the lease is null and void.  Agreement should include a provision providing that any capital improvements to be made in the park be approved by the City Commission, and that no monuments, items or improvements that have any historical value be modified or changed without approval by the City Commission or City Administrator.  If necessary conference call with City Attorney– Commissioner Casey  

 

Agenda Item 07:  Discuss/Consider approval of Resolution No. 2015-08-10-N;

TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE STATE HIGHWAY 101 (MAIN ST.) FROM THE RANGER SWIMMING POOL TO COMMERCE STREET FOR THE “ROARING RANGER” PARADE, 

SATURAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2015 SPONSORED BY THE RANGER HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY- Mayor Pilgrim

Agenda Item 10:  Discuss/Consider approval of  2015 proposed  property tax rate at $0.675240 per $100 valuation for City of Ranger  – Mayor Pilgrim 

 

Agenda Item 11:  Discuss/Consider approving First Reading of Ordinance No. 2015-08-10-G; AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RANGER, TEXAS, ORDERING A SPECIAL  ELECTION ON THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX AT THE RATE OF ONE-FOURTH OF ONE PERCENT TO CONTINUE PROVIDING 

 

 

REVENUE FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF MUNICIPAL STREETS; PROVIDING FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR EARLY 

VOTING; PROVIDING FOR POLLING PLACES; PROVIDING FOR ELECTION JUDGES; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF ELECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR THE METHOD OF VOTING; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING
