   Roy F. Dennis, age 84 of Midland, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, May 19, 2016 after a brief illness. Services for Roy will be 3:00 pm Tuesday,

May 24, 2016 at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Gorman, TX. 

   A visitation was held 6-8 pm Monday.  Burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Gorman under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home in Gorman. 

 

  Roy was born June 23, 1931 in Eastland County, Texas to the Rev. Marion Frances and Annie Estel (Cornwell) Dennis. He graduated from Gorman High School

and went on to attend North Texas University where he received his Masters.

 

   On July 22, 1950, Roy married the love of his life Maxine Florence Fuller in the Midway Community and they shared 58 blessed years together before her death

on December 9, 2008. In 1952 Roy was drafted into the US Army and served our country as an MP during the Korean War.

 

   Roy worked as a High School math and science teacher, retiring from Midland ISD.  In his retirement, Roy loved to garden – both vegetable and flowers and

had a very green thumb. Roy was a Baptist.

 

   He is survived by one daughter, Vicki Diane Ham and husband John of Midland and one son, Roy Lyn Dennis also of Midland; sisters: Ruby Lee Kinser and

husband James of Gorman, and Mary Ruth Arnett and husband Otis of Lubbock.  He is survived by 5 grandchildren: Holly Junker, Wendy Atchley,

Valerie Hess, Aaron Baker and Christopher Mason and 7 great-grandchildren: Kimberlyn, Ashlyn, Kaylee, Logan, Savannah, Brooklyn, Cole, and lots of nieces and nephews.  

 

   Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Maxine, and one brother: Billy Joe Dennis of Gorman.
