His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers, with his favorite player being Stan Musial. He also enjoyed watching western movies and tv shows, playing golf, attending band concerts and marching contests, and couch-coaching the Dallas Cowboys football team after he retired. He loved traveling with his family on vacations across the U.S. and Canada as they were growing up to teach them about the different parts of the country. He was a strong supporter of the idea of America and was a true patriot.
