George “Earl” McDaniel Obituary
George “Earl” McDaniel died January 21, 2016 in Eastland, Texas. Born on September 5, 1942 in Atlanta, Texas to Marian Landers McDaniel and Colure M. McDaniel. He was the youngest and the first of six children to be born in a hospital.
Earl joins, in death his mother, father and siblings Hartwell, Eugene, and Dorothy Jo. Earl’s surviving siblings are Frankie Imogene Leeves of Hughes Springs, Texas and Spencer McDaniel of DeKalb, Texas.
Earl grew up in DeKalb, Texas, graduated from DeKalb High School. He participated in school sports, including football and basketball. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and his dogs. His childhood and lifelong friend James “Jamie” Hurt of Lubbock shared many wonderful experiences. One of Earl’s fondest memories was seeing Elvis Presley perform in the DeKalb High Schoolgym. Earl enjoyed a simple life and kept all entertained with his quick witted sense of humor.
After leaving DeKalb, Earl moved to Dallas and married Geneva Fountain Nash and had two children, Murph Merifran McDaniel Sousa of Omaha, Nebraska and Arlis “Avery” McDaniel of Fort Worth. During the early years Earl was a member of Lakeview Christian Church in Dallas and worked in the outdoor sign industry.
Later Earl was a manager, bartender and bouncer of several local establishments, including the Red Onion in Garland, Texas. He later began a long career in purchasing and selling restaurant equipment. Earl had an affinity for Hobart mixers and would drive anywhere, anytime, to acquire them. During this time he married Diane Richter Koelsch of Rowlett, Texas and had two children, Stacey McDaniel of Garland, Texas and Theresa McDaniel of St. Joseph, Illinois.
He later moved to Ranger, Texas and married Kim Enckhausen McDaniel of Ranger, Texas and had stepdaughter Michelle Enckhausen of Ranger, Texas.
Earl is survived by his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren: Kathryn McDaniel, Mark McDaniel, Dameon Nash, David Nash, Rowena Conrow, Heidi Wilson, Freya Wilson, William Loftus, Alexander Enchausen, Elizjah James Conrow, Hayden Nash, Lorelai Nash
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Robert DeLuca of Eastland, Texas for not only the medical care he provided Earl through the years, but his counseling and kindness; truly above and beyond anything we imagined. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Eastland Nursing and Rehabilitation and Eastland Hospital.
Earl’s spirit and legacy remain in our hearts and mind.
The graveside service will be January 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodmen Cemetery, DeKalb, Texas.
