Clois Everett Purvis Obituary

CISCO- Clois Everett Purvis, 71, of Cisco, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, December 17, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Cisco with Reverend Bruce Stovall officiating; burial will be at Atwell Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday evening 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.

Clois  was born January 11, 1944 in Vernon Texas to Leo Chester Purvis and Mary Louise (Russum) Purvis . He attended elementary school in Roaring Springs and graduated from High School in Petersburg. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne College in math and business and received his Master’s degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University in math, his higher education degree from Texas A & M University and Rutgers University and the National Science Foundation Math Institute. At the time of his retirement he was an administrator at Cisco Junior College. Clois was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cisco, past president of the Rotary Club, amateur radio operator WB5GXZ and a member of Phi Delta Kappa, National Education Organization and Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity.

Survivors include a daughter Christy Michelle Stone and husband Kevin of Plano, Grandsons: Hayden and Brady Stone of Plano, Sister: Dr. Sherry King, PhD., of Richmond, Texas.  A brother: Dr. Kenneth Purvis M.D. of Warren, Arkansas, his former wife: Harryette H. Purvis of Cisco, Step-Granddaughter: Alexis Green of Cisco and Step-Grandson Brent Green of Cisco.
