WOODMEN OF THE WORLD DEDICATED OAKWOOD CEMETERY....FLAG POLE
A gentle breeze lifted the Stars and Stripes hanging from the bright new flagpole. Heads were bowed in somber prayer. Those in attendance included Eastland County Sheriff's Office, Cisco Police and Fire Departments and other residents and officials. Jeff Collins, the speaker representing the Woodmen of the World, spoke of the hundreds of flagpoles dedicated on this Patriot's Day in America. He guided us back to the moment that we understood what was happening on that fateful day that the World Stopped Turning and the Towers Fell. The lives that were lost. The first-responders that were lost and the brave acts of heroism that were performed by thousands of Americans that September morning.
As the flag was drawn to full height and then lowered to half-mast, all joined in the Pledge of Allegiance to end the emotional yet uplifting ceremony. Thank you, Woodmen of the World, for the thoughtful gift and honoring all of those Americans who were lost on 9-11-01.
