One man was killed and four others injured in the morning of July 3rd when fireworks preparations led to a large explosion. The men, all local volunteers, began unloading fireworks from a trailer before 9:00 in the morning in preparation for Independence Day celebrations the next day. “The Family on the Forth Musical Celebration and Fireworks is a Comanche tradition said Comanche Mayor Ronnie Clifton. Just before 9:00am, an explosion shook the town of Comanche and a column of smoke was seen rising towards the High School.
