SEPTEMBER 9TH SPECIAL ELECTION FAST APPROACHING

Six candidates will vie for the State Senate seat which was vacated by Robert Duncan.  A special election will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. In order to vote in the September 9th election, you must have been registered no later than Monday, August 11th.  
Early Voting, for the September 9th election, will be held at the Eastland County Courthouse; 100 W. Main; Eastland, Texas, in the Conference Room, beginning August 25th and ending on September 5th.
According to Election Administrator, Laurie Mangum, Eastland County will consolidate to 4 Precincts on Election Day (Sept 9th), as follows:
*Eastland Courthouse - 100 W. Main Street; Eastland, Texas
*Ranger Community Center - 718 Pine Street; Ranger, Texas
*Higginbotham Center - 108 N. Main Street; Rising Star, Texas
*First Baptist Church, Family Life Center - 800 E. Ave E; Cisco, Texas
Seeking the Senate Seat as the lone Democrat is GREG WORTHAM of Sweetwater. A University of Texas School of Law graduate, Wortham serves as the executive director of Texas Wind Clearing House.  He has previously worked as a staff member in the Texas House, Texas Senate and U.S. Congress.
Candidates on the Republican side include, JODEY ARRINGTON of Lubbock, former Texas Tech University System vice chancellor.  He previously served in the governor's office and White House with former President George W. Bush.
Republican E.M. GARZA of Wolfforth, works for a bottling company and serves as an adjunct professor for Wayland Baptist University.  Garza, an Army veteran, previously ran against Duncan in the 2012 Republican primaries.
DELWIN JONES, former state Representative, lives in Lubbock.  He spent 30 years in the Legislature before being unseated in the 2010 Republican primary runoff. Jones is also seeking a spot on the November 4th ballot for Texas Governor.
CHARLES PERRY of Lubbock currently serves in the House of Representatives and is in the process of leaving his House seat to run for Senate.  Perry won his seat in the House after beating former state Rep. Delwin Jones in the Republician Party run-off in 2010 as a tea party candidate.  He has 30 years experience as a certified public accountant.
KERRY DOUGHAS MCKENNON, a Libertarian candidate from Petersburg, is also running in state House District 88, which is in the Panhandle.  McKennon is an independent sales representative for Avon.  He previously worked in management.
