Many happy people left the Hwy. 36 Park in Rising Star on Saturday, October 10, 2015 a bit richer and a whole lot happier after the four-category BBQ Cookoff and the “Best in the West” Pecan Pie Contest. Ample checks were awarded to winners in several categories of the cookout, including beans, chicken, brisket and ribs. The air smelled delicious and the cookers looked exhausted so evidently those are the signs of a very successful cookout on a stellar Autumn day.
