Capital Murder Grand Jury Capias Warrant Issued and Arrest Made In Wendy Robinson Murder

Ricky Lee Adkins of Ranger, Texas

On Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at approximately 10 a.m., investigators with the Weatherford Police Department, in cooperation with the Texas Rangers, arrested 59-year-old Ricky Lee Adkins on a Capias Warrant for Capital Murder, following a Parker County Grand Jury Indictment, for the murder of Wendy Kae Robinson. Adkins was arrested without incident at his residence in Ranger, Texas and transported to the Parker County Jail. Adkins is being held on a Capital Murder charge, which stems from a Grand Jury indictment handed down on December 1, 2016.

On Wednesday, July 8, 1987, Wendy Kae Robinson, a 19-year-old Willow Park resident, had traveled to the area of Lake Weatherford known as “The Wall” where she was last seen sunbathing around 1:55 p.m. On Thursday, July 9, 1987 Wendy was reported missing to the Weatherford Police Department by her father Jim Robinson.
On Sunday, July 12, 1987 Wendy’s body was located near a gated entrance to a ranch in the 500 block of Savage Lane in Parker County, Texas. From that date, Wendy Robinson’s death has been investigated as a homicide. Police detectives have followed up on countless leads and sought the assistance of numerous law enforcement agencies and investigative resources over the course of this investigation. Even though the case went cold, investigators continued to follow up with tips and leads over the last 29 years.
In January of 2016, this cold case was closely reviewed once again by Weatherford PD detectives, as well as investigators from the Weatherford/Parker County Special Crimes Unit in an effort to bring a fresh set of eyes and theories to the investigation. After developing a new strategy based off old leads, detectives sought the assistance of the Texas Rangers and the United States Secret Service. Following months of exhaustive investigation, reviewing case reports, taking new statements and interviewing multiple individuals associated with the case, investigators worked with the Parker County District Attorney’s office and presented the on- going case to the Parker County Grand Jury. On December 1, 2016 a Grand Jury indictment was handed down for Adkins for the Capital Murder of Wendy Kae Robinson.
