Roscoe Reeves Jr. Obituary
Roscoe Reeves Jr., 74, of Gorman, Texas, went to live in heaven on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Sr. and Ruth Haynes, and his brother Charles Clay.
Roscoe was born in Gorman on Feb. 1, 1941. He attended Gorman Schools, and then graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Agricultural Sciences. He then joined the United States Navy. Following his Naval service in the Vietnam War, he joined the Merchant Marines. He sailed the globe for seven years and often commented that he lived more in those seven years than most people did in a lifetime. He was a wonderful storyteller and loved to share his adventures around the world with those close to him.
He then returned to Gorman where he married Mary Ruth Kirk on August 27, 1974. Together, they had four children: Daniel (husband to Lori), Rachel (wife of Jason), Sarah (wife of John), and Ruth (engaged to Joe). He worked as a farmer, rancher, and a rural mailman. Roscoe was an active participant in the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the York Rite, and served in most every position throughout the years.
Roscoe had six grandchildren, whom he loved dearly: Jacob (12), Luke (9), Hannah (7), Caroline (6), Andrew (4), and Dominic (2 mo.) He passed away eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more precious grandbabies due in June.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, listening to the radio, electronics, flea markets, ice cream, spending time with his friends and family, and studying the Bible.
Roscoe (Grandpa) will be remembered as an honorable man who lived a good life. He had a close personal relationship with the Lord and his family anticipates with joy the day they will see him again in heaven.
