Raymond Penn

CISCO- Raymond Penn, 86, died Thursday, March 12. Born in Cisco, Texas on November 28, 1928, Raymond was the son of Oscar and Rowena Penn and was a lifelong resident of Cisco. Raymond graduated from Cisco High School and from Cisco Junior College and worked as a mechanic in area gasoline plants for many years, and also raised cattle on his property just outside of Cisco, which he dearly loved. Raymond was a devoted fan of the Cisco Loboes, having played on the football team in high school, and was delighted to see the Loboes win the state championship in 2013. He was also a regular attendee at the class reunions for his high school and was known for his hard work, helpfulness, loyalty, and honesty. He will be greatly missed. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Esta Sherman, Verlie Baird, Mary Sugg, and Dolores Ogle, and is survived by his brother, O.C. Penn, of Pampa, Texas a Daughter Lark Ezzell and longtime friend and companion Jane Smith. Visitation was at 4:00 to 6:00 Sunday, March 15 at Kimbrough Funeral Home, 300 West 9th St., in Cisco. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, at Kimbrough Funeral Home. Raymond’s classmate from Cisco High School, Edwin Jackson, will lead the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco. Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond’s cousin Johnny Smith; nephews Stanley, Steve, and Keith Sugg; former classmate Harold Reich; and longtime friends Charles Murphree, Lawrence and Keith Smith. All surviving members of the 1947 class of Cisco High School have been deemed honorary pallbearers as well.
