Joseph "JD" Wilkerson Obituary
Joseph "JD" Wilkerson, 48, of Downing, went home to his Lord and Savior Monday, February 22, 2016.
He was born April 8, 1967, in Comanche, Texas, to Robby and LaRessie Kimmell Wilkerson.
JD worked for Oncor Electric as a lineman for over twenty seven years.
He loved his job and his coworkers. He was a member of First Baptist Church of De Leon. He was a Master Mason with the Armstrong Masonic Lodge #445 of De Leon.
Downing, Texas was his true home. Other than living in Eastland from 1988 until 1995 when his daughters were young, he had always lived in the Downing community.
JD had a passion for farming and was his happiest while spending time outside in God's country. He loved to make people laugh. Anyone who knew him well could
appreciate his keen sense of humor and witty character. Joseph was a true friend and loved spending time with his family. Always with a large and sincere smile on his
face, his aim was to make someone else's day a little better. JD was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed immensely.
He is survived by his daughters, Madison Wilkerson and Eddie Lopez; Kaitlyn Wilkerson and Justin Lindley; grandchildren, Marleigh Wilkerson, Kasen Lopez
and Tucker Lopez; parents, Robby and LaRessie Wilkerson; sister, Misty Alix and husband, Jim; brothers, Nicky Don Wilkerson and wife, Karen, and Rowdy
Wilkerson and wife, Christi; grandmother, Jewell Kimmell; mother of his children, Kelly Rowell; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended
family; and many loving friends.
JD has been reunited with his grandparents, L.D. and Myrtle Wilkerson and Adonis Kimmell; and nephew, Cody Wilkerson.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 26, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, De Leon, with Brother Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Masonic
graveside services followed in Downing Cemetery as JD was laid to rest. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Al-Anon Family Group at
