George Taylor Owens, III

George Taylor Owens III 84, of Cisco went to be with his Heavenly Father, April 14, 2015. Funeral services were held at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Cisco with Reverend Bruce Stovall, Dr. Kelvin J. Kelly and Reverend Gayle Baucum officiating under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends was Friday, 5 to 7 at Kimbrough Funeral Home, 300 West 9th Street, Cisco, TX. George was born January 3, 1931 to George Taylor Jr. and Gladys (Penn) Owens in Anson Texas. He graduated from Anson High School in 1948. He attended Cisco Junior College, playing football as a wide receiver and graduated in 1950. George then went onto McMurry College and graduated in 1952. On April 6, 1952 George married Patsy Jean (Beasley) in Anson, Texas. He and Pat were married 63 years. George worked as a Coach, assistant football coach and Head Basketball Coach at Anson High School from 1952-1955. He then became Assistant Football Coach, Head Basketball Coach and taught math and science at Cisco High School from 1955-1959. In 1959 he became a salesman for Reynolds manufacturing/ S & M Supply Company. He retired as partner and owner. George served on many boards during his lifetime. CJC Board of Regents, Cisco ISD School Board, including position as President, Hendricks Hospital Board of Directors 1992-2006, First Baptist Church; Cisco, as Deacon from 1968-2015 and various roles in the church including Sunday School Director and Cisco Country Club. George was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Billie Kay Wagley. Survivors are his wife Pat of Cisco; Son: George Tracy Owens and wife Robin of Dallas; Daughter: Angela (Angie) McMillan and husband Lee of San Angelo; Grandchildren: Nathaniel Lee McMillan and wife Kelly, Whitney Ann McMillan, Jordan Michelle Owens, Grant Taylor Owens. Great Grandchildren; Ashton Taylor McMillan, Makenna Mae McMillan, Jackson Lee McMillan, Brooklyn Kay McMillan.
