Floyd Dale McGough

Floyd Dale McGough, 73, of Cross Plains, passed away on October 1, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.

  Services wil be held Monday, October 5th, at 1:00 p.m. at Kimbrough Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas. Interment with military honors will be at Oakwood Cemetery following the service.  A visitation for family and friends was Sunday, October 4th at 5:00 p.m.

Floyd was born on March 26, 1942 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. After graduation from Abilene High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served one tour of duty. He continued to honorably serve his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army. During his years as a helicopter pilot, he completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. He earned several service and honor medals during his military career, including the Bronze Star, Presidential Air Medal, and the Award of Distinguished Flying Cross which noted he was a distinguished soldier and hero. Upon his return from the service, Floyd attended Mary Hardin Baylor where he graduated Cum Laude. He completed his law degree at Baylor University and served as a defense attorney in the Belton and Temple area for many years. After closing his law practice, he moved to Cross Plains where he spent many years writing novels. In 2013, he became a published author, penning the book, "Where Robins Die". His family will forever remember his quick wit and talented storytelling that never failed to cause laughter. 

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, daughter Becky, father D.J. McGough, second wife Waurine, former wife Jenny, and 2 sisters, Beth and Sandra. 

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his mother Margaret McGough of Abilene;  2 granddaughters, Amanda Malina and fiance Shawn of Salado and Liana Walls and husband Ty of Taylor; 4 great granddaughters, Josie, Morgan, Katie, and Gracelynn; great grandson Colt; brother Bob McGough and wife Carolyn of McGregor; 2 sisters, Gloria Hill and husband Grady of Terrell and Karen Chapman of Abilene. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
