David Garvin Hobbs

 

 

    David Garvin Hobbs 90, of Cisco passed away at his home in Cisco, December 1, 2015.

  Funeral Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 5, 2015 at I-20 Church of Christ in Cisco, Texas officiated by Lee Lewis with arrangements for cremation to follow under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home.

 

   David was born March 31, 1925 to Addran Hobbs and Esther Jane (Bawcom) Hobbs in Tankersley, Texas. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Abilene Christian University. David also served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. David worked some 30 years in retail sales for Abilene Lumber and also worked for Huffaker Hardware. On October 6, 1946 he married Alta Marie (Carr) in Sherwood, Texas. David had served as an Elder in the Church of Christ in Georgetown, and at Woodlawn Church of Christ in Abilene.

 

   Survivors are his wife Alta of the home, Daughters: Dava Jeanne Tyson of Berryville, Arkansas; Kathy Jane Lester and husband Robert Earl of Uvalde, Texas; Janice Marie Hobbs of Cisco;

Jaqueline Mae Walker and husband William Todd of Abilene, Texas; and Linda Joan Webster of Cisco. Grandchildren: Jeanne Bounds, Nathan Lester, Julia Galloway, Jill Hale, Michael Walker and Mark Walker. Great Grandchildren: Kriket and Magellan Bounds. Gracelynn, Ellie, Ben, and Luke Galloway. Jake, August, and Clara Jane Hale. Micheala and Madelyn Walker.

   David was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother; George Hobbs.
