Aline Kimmell Garrett Obituary
Aline Kimmell Garrett 98, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday. July 19, 2016.
Services will be held Thursday, July 21, at 11:00 A.M. at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Gorman with Jason Wilder officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Mrs. Garrett was born north of De Leon, Texas on July 16, 1918. She graduated from De Leon High School. Her first job was with
Blackwell Hospital in Gorman, Texas. On July 28, 1940, she married William Elbert Garrett making their first home in Fort Worth, TX,
later living in De Leon, TX, Roscoe, TX and Gorman, TX where they opened a business in 1956. Due to William’s failing health, their
business was sold in the mid 1960’s and they moved to a small farm north of Gorman. She was a long time member of the Gorman Church
of Christ and Dorcus Bible Class. As an avid reader, she enjoyed volunteering at the Gorman Library and was secretary of the Oaklawn Cemetery Association for many years.
Her husband preceded her in death on February 18, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela, a great grandson,
Grant, three brothers, Alvis, Adonis, and Ardean and two sisters, Adina and Anita.
Survivors include a daughter, Aletha Burgess and husband, Durwood; grandsons, Billy Burgess and wife, Cheryl, Danny Burgess and wife,
Charla and Glenn Burgess and wife, Donna; six great grandchildren, Alissa Burgess, Chelsea Buckley, Haley Buckley, Reba Milodragovich,
Ben Burgess and Seth Burgess; six great-great grandchildren, Tillye, Mason, Ellie, Ruth, Ashton and Brooklyn.
Memorials may be made to the Gorman Fire Department or the charity of you choice.
