Cary and Peace Chosen for 1st Eris Ritchie Citizenship Awards
The Cisco Rotary Club hosted their annual Citizenship Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 12. It was the first without dedicated Club member, Eris Ritchie, who passed in January. So to honor his memory and his work with the Citizenship Awards, the Rotary handed out the first ever Eris Ritchie Citizenship Awards. The two senior recipients from Cisco High School were Loryn Peace and Reece Cary. Also for the very first time, the entire Cisco High School senior class was invited for the lunch and program, which included a very moving docu-film, "Chronicles of a Teen Killer," concerning the effects of teenage drinking and driving.
After the welcome by Rotarian Greg Cary and invocation by CHS Principal Craig Kent, John Waggoner gave a dedication speech concerning his friend, Eris Ritchie. "This is his vision," is what Mr. Waggoner stated among other wonderful things about Mr. Ritchie.
