Carbon Water Pumping Back in Operation
An Emergency pump was operating Thursday morning. Carbon City Secretary Sylvia Gosnell reported bringing the delivery pressure up to normal, but the boil notice is still in effect, she said, until testing for purity is determined. The system receives treated water from the City of Eastland, so the water is treated but due to the explosion, needs to be re-examined, she said.
The chlorination company was working Thursday morning to get the system back in full operation. “We’re going to have to build a new building,” ,she said, “because the back of the old building was completely destroyed in the explosion.”
Cause of the blast Tuesday about 7p.m. was still being determined. The Carbon City Commission will probably hold a planned meeting soon to determine the future of the plant.
