Billie Lois Bennett, age 96 of Gorman, passed away, Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Gorman with Bro. Barry Schahn officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Billie was born October 13, 1918 in McLean, Texas to Jacob Warren Brooks and Ruth Jane (Lindley) Brooks. She married Jack Bert Bennett on December 11, 1936 in Breckenridge, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2004. Billie was employed by Montgomery Wards as a mail order clerk for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Ray Bennett of Gorman; one daughter, Barbara King and husband, Earl of Weatherford; eight grandchildren, Karyn Bennett of Flag Staff AZ, Jeff Bennett and wife, Charity of Raymore, MO, Steve Bennett of New Beford, MA, Donna Gibson and husband, Robert of Weatherford, Michael Franklin and wife, Karen of Napa, CA, Phil King and wife, Terry of Weatherford, Douglas King of Weatherford and DiAnn Towson and husband, Craig of Weatherford; twentyone great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters Bernice Culvahouse and Peggy Woody and two brothers, Barney Brooks and Howard Brooks. Visitation will be 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
