Marie Thomas, 87, passed away Thursday February 12, 2015 in Abilene. Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland with Benny Hagan officiating. Burial followed in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family received friends 1 hour prior to services time. Marie was born October 29, 1927 in Comanche County, Texas to Dewey Frank and Millie Inez (Sliger) Rush. She married A.J. Thomas on April 29, 1944 in Eastland County. She was a homemaker, and worked many years as a CNA at Valley View Healthcare Center in Eastland. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a wonderful cook. She always had extra ready for her children’s friends who frequently came to her home to enjoy her tender chicken fried steaks or whatever she had prepared. She enjoyed listening to music and was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Ranger. She was preceded indeath by her husband on February 15, 2002; and by 2 sons, Wade Thomas and Daryl Thomas. Survivors include 2 daughters, Wanda (Don) Baird, and Carolyn(Ted) Martin; a son, Gary Thomas; a brother, Doyle Rush; a sister, Roxie (David) Pruess; 8 grandchildren, Donna, Jeff, Shonda, Shaun, Krystal, Taylor, Kristen, andBryan; and by 12 greatgrandchildren. Memorials in Marie’s name may be made to the Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford St,Abilene, TX 79605-9989; or to the donor’s favorite charity.
