Ommer Akers, age 84, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 22, 2015, in a Texarkana, Texas, nursing home. Ommer was born April 19, 1930, in Ranger, Texas, to John and Addie Akers. He was retired from Farm Bureau Insurance; served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War; and was a member of Oakridge Missionary Baptist Church, Maud, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and spending time in his garden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Chyrel Lynn Williams Akers. He is survived by four daughters, Crystal Henderson of Midland, Texas, Jenny Akers of Midland, Texas, Darlene Dudley and husband Jason of Ashdown, Arkansas, Edi Hermes of Edmond, Oklahoma; a brother, Timothy Akers of Lake Whitney, Texas; eight grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral service was held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Huffines Baptist Church, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Bro. Ronnie Pipes officiating. Visitation was Saturday, January 24, 2015, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment was in Huffines Cemetery.
