Eastland School Board Meets To Discuss GPA Scale and Community Input

At Monday’s, Oct. 13th meeting, the Eastland School Board discussed a needed change to the GPA scale in addition to a report by Superintendent Jason Cochran about the recent success of a community forum on education. The GPA scale has been an issue for high school students taking Advanced Placement (AP) classes and Dual Credit classes. The current issue lays with the weighting system which gives what some call an unfair advantage to the GPA’s of Dual Credit students. Currently, students taking dual credit classes receive an extra ten points on their average grade at the end of the semester that counts towards their GPA.
