DPS Pursuit

Around 2PM yesterday an Eastland County DPS Trooper was involved in a pursuit with a Ford pickup on IH-20 for a traffic violation.  As the driver took off and the pursuit was initiated, the passenger was observed throwing a pistol out the window.  The vehicle pursuit came to an end near Carbon at about 2:20PM where the driver and passenger bailed out and took off on foot.  The passenger, Rachel Smith, of Hico, was apprehended a short time later.  The driver, Daniel Shead, of Hico, was apprehended around 8:30PM.  Drugs were recovered from the vehicle and the pistol was also recovered.  I have not received information on what charges were or are going to be filed.  If I receive an update on charges or anything else, I’ll send it out right away.
