Cisco Mayor Update: Dam, Water Plant
From Cisco Mayor James King concerning the dam, the water plant and what the city is doing....thanks to all who are working hard to keep Cisco and the surrounding areas safe!!!!
I want to thank everyone for their prayers and concern for the citizens of Cisco and surrounding areas during this crisis. We are very thankful that no lives have been lost as a result of the flooding or subsequent damage.
Much speculation has been had about the dam holding. Early reports of water washing around the ends of the dam were incorrect. The dam was inspected this afternoon by a TXDOT engineer who feels that it is holding strong. A state dam inspector will arrive in the morning to reevaluate also.
At this point, the main concern for the city is damage to the water plant, which is the cause of imposing severe water restrictions. We should know more about both of these situations by tomorrow afternoon.
I would ask for your patience as we all work through this situation together, and please call 911 or City Hall as appropriate if you know of someone who needs assistance.
In the meantime, I would ask for your continued prayers as we continue to get rain in the area.
Sincerely,
Mayor James King
