2 Solutions Seen For Ranger Hill Safety
The TxDot meeting Tuesday night at Ranger High School Cafeteria was held out of concern for Ranger Hill and the accidents that have happened there in the past.
Although some safety measures have been taken to prevent accidents the road its self holds a bigger threat.
Krishna Peapully, Highway and Bridge Manager explained the grade of the road is causing a lot of incidents. The slope of the hill on top of the angle that the road faces can cause sliding especially during rainy and wet conditions. Winter holds a lot of problems for this highway mainly because the angle of the road even on decent can cause a vehicle to not keep on the road.
There has been research into how to fix the road, schematics have been drawn up with two proposals in mind.
Both involving the flattening and leveling of the road and, the elimination of the sharp curve as you reach the top of Ranger Hill.
Along with these changes to the highway Mr. Peapully also explained the widening of the road to allow a slow lane for trucks that are ascending the hill.
At the top of Ranger Hill is where the biggest changes will happen.
TxDot has talked to property owners in the area and all seem to agree something needs to be done, but nothing has been completely finalized as of yet.
Schematics will be posted on our website at www.eastlandcountytoday.com
