Dothan Dove Haven

By Kathy Spencer

Dothan Community Eastland County Off of the Farm to Market Road 2945, that runs east and west, between Cisco and Putnam, lies the location of a town that no longer exists. Dothan was built near the site of a depot that was built in the 1880’s by the Texas and Pacific Railroad and had a Post Office. Originally known as Delmar, but then diminished after Red Gap became the busier of the two with rail traffic. However, there are still families and people that make this area their home. The dove seem to appreciate this area also. Sunflowers, stock tanks, cover of mesquite brush and some deadfalls make for a pretty paradise for them. Hunters may take advantage of this abundance.
