Group’s Name Exemplifies Star Pride’s Mission

On any given day motorists traveling through Rising Star may see several people cleaning sidewalks on Main Street or watering and tending to the flowersplanted in front of downtown businesses. These dedicated workers are part of Star Pride, a civic organization, whose efforts have helped beautify the town for the past 25 years. Barbara Medley, president of Star Pride, said that  he organization began in 1990. James and Jean Ramsey along with other local citizens including Helen  onham, Tonya Killion, Berna Lee Chick, Cora Harrell, Janell Caudle and Barbara Medley formed Star Pride with the purpose of improving the appearance of the town.
