Myrtle Lucille McGough Obituary

Myrtle Lucille McGough

Myrtle Lucille McGough Mom/Grannie Cille changed her address to heaven on February 1, 2016, two days short of her 81st birthday. She was surrounded by loved ones to include family and her hospice nurse and personal care aide.

Lou was born at home on February 3, 1935, in Ranger, TX, to Ira and Ruby (Casey) Ainsworth. She was the third born of five children. She enjoyed the outdoors and kept her lawn/gardens immaculate prior to her decline in health. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and taking care of others. In her later years, Lou enjoyed watching television, especially mysteries.

Mom told family she had been saved at a tent revival where Eastside Baptist Church in Ranger now stands. She had been a member of Merriman Baptist Church, but claimed that “corner on Young Street” as her church home.  In her last days, she voiced her longings to be with the Lord and see her Mama again.

Lou married twice, the first time was to Kenneth Beasley O’Neill. They had four children: Bobby Dean, Ruby Jewel, Elton James, and Tina Kathleen. Her second marriage was to W.C. McGough, and she loved her three adult step-children. She had two places she called home in her later years, the McGough ranch outside Eastland and her little house in Ranger.

Grannie Cille is survived by her children: Bobby and Margaret O’Neill, Ruby O’Neill, James and Brenda O’Neill, Tina Thomas, and Carson and Patsy McGough. She has ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings: Frank and Thelma Ainsworth, Floyd and Carolyn Ainsworth, and Billy and Jean Ainsworth. Lou was preceded in death by her husband (W.C. McGough), parents and older brothers, Alvin and Calvin Ainsworth.

The family celebrated her birthday on February 3, 2016, at her home in Ranger. As per her wishes, she was cremated (Edwards Funeral Home) and her ashes will be buried at a later date at Staff Cemetery. She desired no formal service and wanted her family to know she would be in heaven where there would be no more suffering or pain.

The family expresses special thanks to Encompass Home Health, Gentiva Hospice, and the many friends and neighbors who have provided support, food, water and paper goods. As there will be no formal service, the family requests any donations in Lou’s name be made to the Food Pantry at Eastside Baptist Church in Ranger, TX.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.  1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (KJV)
