Mary Catherine Bates Obituary

CISCO – Mary Catherine Bates, age 61, a life-long resident of Cisco went home to be with her Lord Friday, September 11, 2015.  Services for Mary were held at 10 am Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Chambers Funeral Home Chapel in Cisco.  Visitation was from 6-7 pm on Monday.  Burial was at the Romney Cemetery on HWY 183 south of Cisco.

Mary was born June 11, 1954 in Gorman to Emmett and Martha Ziehr Rich.  She was a graduate of Cisco High School and attended Tarleton State University.  She married Raymond Bates on July 2, 1976 in Dallas, TX and became a housewife and mother.  Mary enjoyed doing woodworking, especially the painting.  She was an animal lover and raised many dogs, but her passion was her music and her family.  Mary was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Cisco.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother Martha Rich and a son Steven Bates.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Raymond:  her father, Emmett Rich of Cisco: son, James Bates of Brownsfield: daughters, Elizabeth Robertson of Cisco and Caren Vera of Brownwood: sister, Trecia Veach of Wichita Falls.  She is also survived by 3 grandsons; Levi, Jackson and Benjamin Robertson. She was loved dearly by her family and will be missed.
