Margaret Jaudell Davenport was born October 11, 1923, in Comanche County, Texas. She passed away February 27, 2016, in Comanche County, Texas, at the age of 92.

Most people didn’t know her real name, as everyone called her Pat or Grannie Pat. Her parents were Cassie Mae (Pell) Lewis and George Oliver Lewis of the Downing Community.

She married Robert Herbert Davenport May 12, 1941. They were inseparable in the sixty-six years they shared, until Robert’s death, April 1, 2007. Born to this union, was one daughter,

Sandra Lee (Davenport) Keating and two sons, Danny Howell Davenport and Robert Harrell Davenport. The two sons both died at birth.

She was born near Onion Valley on her maternal grandfather, Jacob Jaramai Pell’s place. Grandpa Pell was an early Comanche County pioneer, coming here about 1872, and

marrying Mary Elizabeth Stone in 1873. Her paternal grandfather was Joseph Brady Lewis, who married Isabell Elizabeth Byrd. They originated in Missouri, but were early settlers

in Brown County, in the Byrd Store area, later living in Comanche County.

She spent her life dancing, fishing, gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, and was always busy. She loved life, loved people, and loved her family most of all. When she

became disabled, she crocheted Afghans and watched TV westerns, never tiring of Gunsmoke, Bonanaza, and all the old western movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by sisters, Ora Mae (Lewis) Stone, Callie (Lewis) Mathis, Winnie Marie Lewis, and Vera Elizabeth (Lewis) Dugan; brothers,

Delmer Lewis, Elsie Odell Lewis, and G.W. (Dub) Lewis; grandson-in-law, Butch Crudgington.

Her loving survivors are daughter Sandy Keating and husband, Joe Ray Keating; granddaughters, Jodi Lee (Keating) Crudgington, and Niki Ray (Keating) Knowlton

and husband Tim; grandsons, Michael Lynn Keating and wife Vicki, and Daniel Scott Keating; great grandchildren, Shanna D’Ann Martinez and husband Michael,

Cara Lee Crudgington, Blair Joseph Thomas, Hailey Michelle Keating, Alex Keating Thomas, Brandon Gotcher, Courtney Renee Keating, and Cassie Elizabeth Keating.

Great-great grandchildren are Elizabeth Marie Steddum and Connor Michael Martinez. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

All but a few of these survivors live within 100 miles of her, and saw her often. She will be sorely missed, but may she rest in peace.
