Herman Don Armstrong Hull

 

   Herman Don Armstrong Hull, 75 of Kempner, TX formerly of Eastland, passed away Sunday December 20, 2015 in Lampasas, TX.  Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Eastland with Rev. Dwaine Clower and James Doyle officiating.  Burial will follow in the Flatwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home Monday, 6~8:00 p.m.

He was born on January 4, 1940 in Lubbock to Herman “Dude” Armstrong and Rachel Viola Porter.  Don moved to Eastland at the age of 10 in 1950.  He grew up in the home of George B. Hull following the death of his mother Rachel.

   He attended Eastland High School graduating in 1959 where he played sports with the Eastland Mavericks.  He retired from Texas Utilities, Eastland Distribution Division and was a veteran of the United States Army and the 49th Division of the Texas National Guard.

   On July 8, 1960 he married the love of his life, Miss Ruby Rasberry.  They traveled life’s roads together for 55 years and raised three daughters together.

He was preceded in death by daughter Brenda in an automobile accident in 1982.  He is survived by his wife, Ruby Hull; 2 daughters, Lonnie Rachel Doyle and husband James of Plano, and Becky Lorene Battreal and husband Ralph of Kempner; 3 grandsons, Matt Doyle and wife Christina of McKinney, Daniel Doyle and partner Nash Cantu of Garland, and Chad Battreal of wife Mary of Navarre, Florida; 1 granddaughter, Tara Battreal Wheeler and husband Steve of The Woodlands; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ruby and Aiden Doyle and Finley and Max Wheeler.

   He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Robbins of Dallas; and a brother, Thomas Eugene Hull and wife Virginia of Blanket; and 2 sisters-in-law, Ruth Underwood and Jo Hogan of Gorman.

   Don is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews that shared his life and loved their “Uncle Don”.  He was also blessed to have many close friends that loved him and his family.
