Gaylon Nelms

Gaylon Nelms, 71, of Goldsboro, North Carolina ended his long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on February 16, 2015 and is now with the Lord. Gaylon is survived by his wife Betty, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Garry Pleasant, all of Goldsboro, North Carolina; grandsons Justin Cummings and Devin Nelms of Eastland and Derek Nelms of Burleson, Texas; brother and sisterin- law L.C. (Buddy) and Joan Nelms of Wrightwood, California and sister-inlaw Claudia Hallmark of Springtown, Texas, and a large extended family and many friends. Gaylon is preceded in death by his parents Elvis and Louise Nelms and son David Nelms. Gaylon was born April 4, 1943 in Eastland, Texas. He grew up in Cisco, Texas and married Betty Hallmark on April 6, 1962. Gaylon was a baptist minister and served in a number of churches. In 1988 Gaylon, along with his wife Betty, began serving as missionaries, traveling to Mexico, Panama and the Philippine Islands to share the gospel. They also supplied Bibles and gospel literature to numerous other countries. Gaylon retired in 2002 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
