Bobby James Newport

EASTLAND- Bobby James Newport, 85, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 10, 2015, at Eastland Memorial Hospital, in Eastland, Texas. He was born on January 24, 1930, in Mannford, Oklahoma, to Fannie Mae and Floyd W. Newport. Bobby was a long time resident of Odessa, Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Lu Newport. He served as Captain of the Odessa Fire Department for 17 years and owned Newport Plumbing in Odessa for many years, before retiring with his wife to their home in Carbon, Texas. Bobby was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was kind hearted with a generous spirit and touched many lives. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Belle “Lu” Newport of Carbon, Tx; son, Robert “Mark” Newport of Carbon, Texas; Granddaughter, Shannon Newport and 3 great grandchildren of Comanche, Texas; siblings, Hazel Smith of Odessa, TX, Myrtle Case of Marlow, Oklahoma, and Tommy Newport of Marlow, Oklahoma. Graveside services were held at Long Branch Cemetery in Carbon, Texas on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
