Bobby Jack Carlton

   Bob Carlton, age 84, of Gorman, Texas was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 19, 2015.  He was a beloved husband, father and pawpaw.

 

   Bobby Jack Carlton was born to Joe Carlton and Myrtle (Daugherty) Carlton on  August 2, 1931 in Ballinger, Texas. He was the youngest of three children.  At a young age, the family moved to Rising Star, Texas and then to the Kokomo area when he was 13 years old.  Bob lived the rest of his life on the farm in Kokomo.  He served two years, 1952 and 1953  in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.    He married Pansy Rosetta White  on September 18, 1952 in Eastland, Texas.    

 

   He had a passion for farming and loved to work and live off the land.  Bob loved to hunt and fish.  He taught all of his kids to do the same.  Bob was a member of the Carbon Community Baptist Church and was baptized last year.

 

   He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Carlton of Gorman; three sons, Bobby D. Carlton of Gorman; Darrell Carlton and wife Renae of Gorman; Jerry Carlton and wife Denise of Gorman; two daughters, Rhonda Johnson and husband Kenny of Eastland; Gwen Carlton of Eastland; fourteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bill Carlton and one sister, Margie (Carlton) Morrison.

  

   Funeral Services will be at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Gorman on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM with burial in Bear Springs Cemetery with Dwayne Clower  and  Jody Forbus officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
