Velda Dois (Echols) Foster Baze Obituary

Velda Dois (Echols) Foster Baze, age 92 of Gorman, passed away Thursday, 

May 26, 2016 at the De Leon Nursing & Rehab.

Service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 30, 2016 at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with John Payne officiating. 

Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Gorman.

Velda was born March 20, 1924 in Martin County, Texas to Louis C. Echols

And Mary Ann (Brooks) Echols.  Velda graduated from Gorman High School in 1940 at 16 years of age. She soon after, married

Dick Foster on July 18, 1940 in Gorman, Texas.  He preceded her in death on May 22, 1980.  She later married Graydon Baze on November 30, 1985. 

He preceded her in death on May 18, 1991. 

Velda worked for Hollywood Vassarette in Eastland for many years. She was also manager of the Sunbelt Savings in Gorman.  Velda was a member

of the Gorman Church of Christ for many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Dolores Underwood and husband, Don of Gorman; daughter-in-law, Tammy Straw and husband, Eldon of Gorman;

step-sons Joe Ed Baze of Eula and Bill Baze and wife, Jan of Rainbow; step-daughter, Paulette Black and husband, Bill of Livingston; grandchildren,

Lyndall Underwood of Roscoe, Greg Underwood and wife, Dawn of Clifton and Daryl Underwood and wife, Kriste of Arlington, Jason Posey and wife,

Michael of Abilene, Cody Foster and wife, Brandi of Cisco, Melissa Whorton and husband, Robert of Hollis, OK, Jared Baze of Eula, Allison Wright and husband,

Chad of Eula, Eric Baze and wife, Mary, Amanda Hall and husband of Frisco, De Ann Haffner and husband, Michael of Livingston and Jamie Black and wife, Megan;

23 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Michael Foster and Brent Foster; three brothers, Willie Echols, Ira Echols and Clea Echols and a sister,

Anna Lois Watson, and a great granddaughter, Madison Paige Posey.
