Doris Day

CISCO- 4/29/1929-- 6/26/2015, in a “Family Circle comic strip” the ather explains that the dash between the birth date and the death date  represents the life of the individual buried at the location of the stone. The son simply adds, “Dad, I wish the dash would have been longer!”-- I am writing today in memory of a resident that came to us in “God’s time” ten years ago. Doris came to us in 2005 from Rock House of Eastland, upon a request from Dr. Robert DeLuca. He thought she would function more with her age group. Doris became the “informer of our home”, constantly rolling from hall to hall to inform the staff of things going on. She enjoyed her TV cartoons and rearranging her things. The highlight of her day was time spent tearing pictures of animals, babies and adults out of magazines. Doris came from a small family, but she enjoyed creating family photo albums from the magazines. She visited these albums daily, the people in them were real to her. She named some of them and knew them on a personal basis. Santa Claus coming and listening to her transistor radio were the  ighlight of her years. The staff, other residents and outside family members always noticed Doris and made her comfortable. She will be greatly missed and I just want the world to know that her “Dash” continues in Heaven today and it was a privilege to know and care for her. The Staff of Cisco Nursing and Rehab Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco. Rev. Tim Penney officiating under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home of Cisco
