Gladys L. Owings

Gladys L. Owings, age 84 of Troy, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at a local care center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Nimrod Cemetery near Nimrod, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 PM Friday at 500 Country Place Road in Troy, Texas.

Mrs. Owings was born on May 6, 1930 in Omaha, Texas to the late Timothy Derrick and Ruby Hill Derrick. She married Wesley Owings on September 9, 1947 and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1984. Gladys has lived in the Temple area since 1963. She loved gardening, camping, and all animals, especially cats. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Porubsky and husband Dale of Troy; two sons, James Owings of Burleson and Ronald Owings and wife Colleen of Cisco; one brother, Fred Ray Derrick of Goodletsville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
