Floydene Gilbert Obituary

   Floydene Gilbert, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, in Gorman, Texas.

   She was born on September 30, 1935, in Gorman, to Jack Floyd and Lucille (Underwood) Gilbert.  Floydene earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education from Abilene Christian University.  She taught in Breckenridge, Rotan and Gorman schools.  Later in life she worked in retail sales for Frossard’s and Lasater’s Department stores in Gorman.  She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

   She is survived by her brother, John Gilbert and wife Tresa of De Leon; sister, Carolyn Gilbert of Gorman; sister-in-law, Joyce Gilbert of Katy; nieces,  Lisa Moore of El Paso and Amber Bunton of Abilene; nephews, Stephen Gilbert of San Antonio, Glenn Gilbert of Katy and Jonathan Gilbert of College Station; cousin, Vicki Campbell of Brownwood, and many special Gilbert and Underwood cousins.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Floyd and Lucille Gilbert; brother, Jack Neal Gilbert, and a nephew, Dean Neal Gilbert.

   Family will receive friends at Higginbotham Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 26, 2014.  Lunch for the family at 12:00 Noon on Saturday at the Gorman Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.

   Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Gorman followed by interment in Murray Cemetery in Eastland County.  Higginbotham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
