Commissioners Monday evening okayed selling Lakeside Golf Course in a deal lengthily negotiated by Debby Copeland of Re- Max Real Estate. Coming out of the shortest Eastland executive session in history, Mayor Larry Vernon rejoicingly commented, “It’s selling.” The City had acquired the 18-hole course as a gift by the previous owner after a $300,000.00 waste-water pipeline was installed by the City. Efforts to operate and/or “flip” the property had been a lengthy, expensive, embarrassing ordeal for the commission. Further progress was marked at the meet by a number of positive projects.
