City Commission Accepts Bid For Repairs to Water Tower

The Gorman City Water Tower has been standing since the 1920s, it was mentioned at the recent City Commission meeting on Thursday, July 2nd. No doubt was voiced about the sturdy construction of the tower, or how expensive it would be to replace. A recent inspection, however, brought to light issues which needed to be repaired, and everyone agreed they were not getting any better. A bid from in the amount of $44,490 was presented and accepted by the commission to re-coat the exterior of the tower and repair the cat walk. Included in the bid will be the cleaning up of rust spots and other issues on the exterior, primer and paint applied, and the tank then re-lettered as it presently appears. Mayor Erwin explained that the water tower is inspected once a year.
