The Picketville Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas met April 14, 2014. Laura Cockerell, dressed in 1800’s attire, was the guest speaker. Laura, author of “Magnificent Sam” a story about Sam Houston entertained the group with her delightful story about how the book was written and illustrated. The book was recently selected as a finalist for the Western.
