EASTLAND COUNTY MUSEUM TO WELCOME DOC SCURLOCK FAMILY THIS SATURDAY

The Eastland County Museum will be the site for the 2014 Scurlock Family Reunion to be held Saturday, October 11 from 10 until 5. Descendants of Josiah Gordon ‘Doc’ and Antonia Herrera Scurlock and other Scurlock families will travel from all directions to Eastland, Texas, Doc’s final home, for the second of two Eastland reunions, the first held in 2009. Josiah Gordon “Doc” Scurlock was born in Tallapoosa, Alabama on January 11, 1850. He rode with Billy the Kid during the Lincoln County Wars in New Mexico. He is believed to have studied medicine in New Orleans, thus his nickname “Doc”.
