Mavs Take Consolation at Dublin Tourney

Majors, Cecil Lead the Way

The Eastland Mavericks have put on their basketball shorts and shoes and have hit the court for their next sporting endeavor. This past weekend, they participated in the Dublin Tournament at Dublin High School in their first action of the year. They were able to leave Dublin with the Consolation championship after their 6-point victory over the host school, the Dublin Lions. In the consolation championship game on Saturday, the Mavericks hung on to defeat Dublin 54-48. Leading the way for Eastland was McKennon Cecil andMatt Majors with 17 points  each. Brant Bailey helped the Mavs’ cause with 10 points. Josh Gosnell had 5 points while Derrick Morris and Easton Sanderson had 2 points each. Braden Blackwell hit 1 free throw.
