The Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Health Department have confirmed the first Ebola Virus diagnosis in the United States of a patient at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. The patient had recently traveled from the West African country of Liberia and sought medical attention after becoming ill after arrival.

What you need to know:

  • The Ebola Virus is only spread through direct contact.

  • The patient has been quarantined and the hospital is observing strict contagious disease protocol.

  • The CDC is deploying epidemiologists to track down any people who were exposed to this patient before his admittance.

  • Officials are confident that this is a limited instance and that it will remain fully contained.
