"A FAMILY TRADITION”

It is almost time once again to clean up that shotgun and buy up those shells. Yes, all of you Dove Hunters know what I am talking about. We have been watching the sunflowers get tall and ripen with the flavorful seeds which the dove can’t seem to get enough. Beautiful yellow heads waving in the heat of summer. September 1st was always a day that was prepared for ahead of time in the Spencer family. I married into the family in 1975 and made my debut as a dove hunter shortly thereafter. I loved it. Our income tax return was spent on shotguns and boots and ammo of course. This began a family tradition of “Opening Day” for dove season.
