“IN AWESOME WONDER”

Odell, Texas lies a few short miles from the Red River and the Texas/Oklahoma border. The nearest town of consequence on the map is Chilicothe, Texas. On a Late Spring afternoon my mother began to help me “clean up for church” by rebraiding my hair. It was Sunday evening. I thought it was unusual for her to call me onto the front porch, but I could see that she was watching something in the sky.A golden light began to shine through the window curtains and I thought, “How beautiful!” I made my way through the old screen door and joined her there.
