Rising Star ISD is seeking to enroll students in a HeadStart program at Rising Star Elementary in addition to Pre-K. Head Start is a federallyfunded, comprehensive child development program designed to provide an educational head start to children from age three through the year before they begin kindergarten. Pre-k is a similar program funded by the state. Both programs follow an identical curriculum but bear different names depending on the families’ income levels. The programs allow 3 and 4-year-olds to experience a classroom environment and develop an educational foundation before kindergarten.
