Winnie Mae Carter Rainey

 

 

   Winnie Mae Carter Rainey, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister  and friend, passed away into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 7,  2015, at 97 years old.  

   Winnie was born May 19, 1918, in Desdemona, to  S.E. and Julia Dwyer Carter. Winnie graduated from Desdemona High School. She was an avid reader,  quilter, loved needlework and board games. She was a steadfast

friend  to many and intensely devoted to her family. She enjoyed laughing and   had such a cheerful spirit. Winnie was a devoted Christian and her  

bible was most important to her. She was dearly loved by all who knew  

her and will be greatly missed.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. (Jiggs) Rainey in 1990;  

two sons, Rodger Lynn Rainey in 1996 and Larry Dean Rainey in 2013;  and brothers and sisters, Jean Jernigan and husband, Lee, Lucille   Johnson and husband, Doyle, Esther Cannon and husband, Melvin, and  J.D. Carter and wife, Frieda.

   Winnie is survived by her loving children, Wanda Fox Thetford, Winfred  Jack Rainey, Joyce Sides and husband, Sherman, and Randy R. Rainey and  wife, Joyce J., all of De Leon; grandchildren, Brent Evans,  Bradley  L. Sides and

wife, Leah, Brandon Sides and wife, Rachael, Amy Rainey,  Matt Rainey and wife, Kenna, Mark Rainey and wife, Christina, and Joel  Rainey and wife, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Tony Evans, Dawson  

Sides, Peyton Sides, Jordan Stelter, Blayne Sides, Max Rodriguez,  Lilly Rainey, Brody Rainey, Levi Rainey, Kennedy Rainey and Carter Mae  Rainey; brother, S.E. Carter Jr. and wife, Melba; daughter-in-law, 

Debbie Rainey; and several special nephews and nieces, including Lexie  Hogg, Donna Dean, Edna Stedham and Koleen Whitefield.

 

   Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, 2015, at 2:00 p.m.  at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Minister Denver Rainey officiating.  

Graveside services will follow in Desdemona Cemetery. Family will  

receive friends from noon until service time Friday at the funeral  home.
