Sallie Dell Lamb Hutchinson

Sallie Dell Lamb Hutchinsonpassed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at the age of 84. Sallie was born March 17, 1931 near Gorman to Andrew  Jackson (A.J.) and Ina Mae(Prestidge) Lamb. Sallie attended school in Rising Star until the family moved to Houston for a time during WWII and Sallie met Everett Ray Hutchinson Jr. and fell inlove. They married in Rising Star on December 25, 1946, after Ray returned from service in WWII. They resided in Houston while working in the Hutchinson family flooring business. In June 1960 they returned to Rising Star and started their own flooring business. Sallie is survived in life by her husband Ray of 69 years, 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Sallie is proceeded in death by her parents and brother,  illiam Charlie Lamb.  urvivors include children, John Ray and wife, JennyHutchinson of Benbrook; Belinda Dell and husband, Oliver West of Rising Star; Priscilla Mae Hutchinson Clark of San Diego California; Dwight Andrew and wife, Tri ia Hutchinson of Rising Star and Molly Kathleen Riewe of New Mexico. Sallie’s pride and joy were her children, all the way down  o her great-great-grandchildren. She never passed up amoment to brag about them. Sallie was a member of the Rising Star Church of Christ. Sallie had many hobbies which she loved sharing with others. She enjoyed singing, playing scrabble, growing her flowers and gardens, working on the farm and rock collecting. She took so  much pride in her big yard of beautiful blue bonnets.  Given the chance, Sallie never passed up a chance to travel to Colorado, a place where her heart soared with its grandeur, beauty and so many “cool” rocks. It is a place that over the years they  took their children and grandchildren for many unforgettable adventures and placing of time capsules for future generations to find. One of her biggest adventures was family history and digging deep into genealogy. Sallie’s  family roots run deep in the development of Eastland  County by the Mansker’s, the Schmicks an  the Prestidge’s. Anyone who had the chance to meet Sallie Dell Hutchinson, had the chance to meet  a personality bigger than life  nd she will deeply be missedby all of us. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested consideration of donations to be  made to The Alameda Cemetery Association, 820 Walnut Street, Ranger, TX 76470 or The American Cancer Society in memory of Sallie. Visitation was held Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Cross Plains Higginbotham Funeral Home. Service was Friday, July 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Rising Star Church of Christ,  burial followed at 1:00 pm at the Alameda Cemetery.  The family had a brief meal  following the service and prior to the burial.
